Who We Are

DiCare Foundation is a national non-governmental organization registered under the Companies Act 2019, (Act 992) with a pivotal focus on helping the poor and marginalized in society.

Our organization runs programmes including: sustainable livelihoods for vulnerable groups, career guidance/counseling and vocational training for young people, evangelism and philanthropy, research and policy advocacy in education, health and gender.

DiCare envisions a society where the abject poor, vulnerable groups and young people live in dignity and have alternative choices of livelihoods towards improving their living conditions.

Mission

Working in partnerships with institutions and individuals towards strategic skills development; livelihood empowerment and policy influencing to improve the plight of the poor, vulnerable groups; women and the youth.

Our Programmes

Sustainable Livelihoods (Widows Tent)

This programme seeks to provide sustainable livelihoods for poor widows and other vulnerable groups through financial and technical assistance to engage in income generating activities. Financial assistance is in the form of repayable loans with minimal interest rates comparatively lower than prevailing bank rates.

Career Guidance/Counseling and Skills Training

DiCare Foundation provides counseling and career guidance to young people who have dropped out of school or completed pre-tertiary education and cannot proceed to tertiary institutions due to financial constraints or inability to obtain the required grades. We also provide free skills training for young people from poor backgrounds.

Evangelism and Philanthropy

Evangelism and philanthropic services are integrated in the activities of DiCare Foundation. We share the word of God with all, especially the poor, marginalized and socially excluded. Food aid, clothing and other interventions such as school supplies are provided to the needy as and when necessary.

Policy Advocacy

Access to quality education, good health care and gender empowerment are key in bringing relief to the poor and socially excluded. Premised on this, we do evidence based advocacy to influence policy decisions in these areas to positively affect the lives of the poor.

Main Activities

  • Liaising with financial institutions, agencies and individuals to support income generating programmes for the poor and vulnerable groups.
  • Providing loans with low interest rates to the marginalized groups to undertake income generating activities.
  • Counseling, skills development/training for young people especially those from poor backgrounds.
  • Collaborating with other civil society organisations to advocate for free quality and equitable education for all Ghanaian children, especially those with special needs.
  • Research and advocacy on policies affecting education, health care delivery and women empowerment.
  • Evangelism/philanthropy and outreach activities in deprived communities, schools, hospitals, prisons, etc.

Target Group

The socially excluded especially women and girls from poor backgrounds, children with special needs, school dropouts, the sick and poor and the youth.

Our Partners

We are open to working with Government, NGOs, private sector, religious bodies, youth groups, traditional leaders and individuals.
